Greene County is home to state-of-the-art healthcare resources. In addition to the numerous specialists and general practitioners in the area, Greene County offers easy access to additional resources in Terre Haute, Bloomington and Indianapolis.

Medical Services


Greene County General Hospital, located just off of Highway 54, is a critical access hospital serving Greene and the surrounding counties. The hospital has been locally owned and managed for 100 years and in 2012 completed an $8.5 million expansion and renovation project. A member of the Indiana Hospital Association and the American Hospital Association, and licensed by the Indiana State Board of Health, GCGH is also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.

The hospital maintains state of the art equipment and well-trained staff who have a strong investment in continuing education as well as a strong investment in the communities in which they serve.

Greene County General Hospital offers a variety of services, including: Emergency department, obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, radiology, lab, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and infusion therapy.

Greene County Health, Inc.

Greene County Health, Inc., a six-location family practice physician group, is a free standing not-for-profit organization. The clinics offer full spectrum family medicine, including OB. With specialties in areas such as pediatrics, OG/GYN, family medicine and geriatrics, the staff at Greene County Health are well trained to care for your entire family.

Practice locations include Bloomfield, Linton, Lone Tree, Shakamak, WestGate and Worthington.

  • Greene County Health-Bloomfield is staffed by Owen Batterton, MD and Josh Cullison, MD. The clinic is located at 708 West Main Street in Bloomfield and can be reached by calling (812) 384-5808. It's open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Greene County Health-Linton is staffed by Chris Holmes, MD; Kelly Ramsey, MD; Linda Swango, FNP; Denise Wagner, FNP; Ange Kenworthy, FNP; and Corianne Vanderkolk, PA-C. It's located at 1210 North 1000 West in Linton and can be reached by calling (812) 847-7005. The clinic is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Greene County Health-Lone Tree is staffed by Pete Powers, MD and Youssef Rezk, OB/GYN. The clinic is located at 1216 North 1000 West in Linton and can be reached by calling (812) 847-8664. Dr. Powers is available for appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • Greene County Health-Shakamak is staffed by Gene Bourgasser, MD and Billie Jo Fritch, FNP. The clinic is located at 714 West Main Street in Jasonville and can be reached by calling (812) 665-9000. It's open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
  • Greene County Health-WestGate is staffed by Autumn Nonte, FNP. The clinic is located at 1985 East Freedom Drive in the Greene County portion of the WestGate @ Crane Technology Park. The clinic can be reached by calling (812) 863-4250. It's open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
  • Greene County Health-Worthington is staffed by Thomas Martin, MD; Rita Hayes, FNP; and Ange Kenworthy, FNP. The clinic is located at 102 East Main Street in Worthington and can be reached by calling (812) 875-2000. The clinic is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Greene County Home Healthcare

Greene County Home Healthcare, a wholly owned subsidary of Greene County General Hospital, assists persons in staying independent at home by offering a wide range of skilledcare, supportive care and specialty care to patients in Greene County as wellas parts of Owen, Clay, Sullivan, and Knox counties.

Emergency Medical Services

  • County operated 911 service
  • Ambulance is located in each of four satellite sites throughout Greene County
  • 24 hour coverage, seven days per week

In addition to the county-operated system, the Linton Fire Department provides backup emergency medical services support to the county ambulance service.

In the event of a 911 emergency, emergency medical service personnel decide where to take the patient based on proximity, patient preference, and extent of injury.

Elder Care

Greene County’s senior citizens are busy serving their community in social and service clubs and a host of mission-directed community organizations. For those seniors who need assisted care, Greene County offers comprehensive services.


Generations, affiliated with Vincennes University, is a not-for-profit agency serving older adults and disabled individuals of all ages, in the counties of Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Knox, Martin and Pike.  Generations provides resources that foster personal independence while assuring individual dignity and an enhanced quality of life. Generations' mission is to offer people choices as they age to live a better life with dignity. As one of 16 Area Agencies on Aging in Indiana, Generations has the resources to help those with physical disabilities and their caregivers. Generations is a member of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (N4A) and Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging (IAAAA) and a member of the board of directors for the National Enterprise Alliance. Generations is part of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and the Indiana Division of Aging. They serve more than 3,300 clients in the Indiana counties of Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Knox, Martin and Pike. Generations complies with Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. 

In Greene County, Generations provides the following services:

  • Meals on Wheels for homebound elderly and individuals with disabilities
  • Congregate meal sit
  • Pre-admission screening for nursing home placements
  • Ombudsman services
  • AngelWorx Volunteer Program
  • Link-Age Aging Resource Connection to help individuals with long-term care issues.

Additionally, the City of Linton has agreed to be one of two pilot projects for Generations’ EngAGE initiative, which is designed to help prepare for the growing again population by making their communities more elder friendly. Greene County residents are also able to subscribe to Generations’ free magazine, designed to address the needs of those age 55 and older. Contracted providers help the Generations’ staff to offer transportation, adult day services, employment services for persons 55 and older and legal assistance for older residents and qualifying low-income individuals. Nursing & Rehabilitative Care

Autumn Trace of Greene County, Greene County's only Assisted Senior Living Community has 44 beautiful suites; comprised of deluxe singles, one bedrooms and two bedrooms.  They offer Greene County seniors new options and choices with the opportunity to continue to live independently.  They provide the peace of mind and security that comes with knowing personal care, assistance and help is available when needed.  We provide residents with assistance with activities of daily living in a residential home like environment.  Included with your suite will be:

Glenburn Home is a full service retirement Community and Rehab Center located in Linton.

  • Glenburn offers Independent Living in their duplex apartments 
  • Health Center offers skilled and intermediate care
  • Alzheimer's Special Care Unit
  • The Rehab Center offers Post Acute Inpatient services as well as Outpatient Services.
  • The Greene County Adult Community Center offers Travel, Education and Fellowship to area seniors. 
  • Greene County Adult Day Care provides respite for families caring for a loved one at home.

Lyons Health & Living Center is an 82-bed facility offering inpatient and outpatient services including physical, occupational, and speech therapies as well as 4 rehabilitation-to-home Medicare suites for patients needing rehabilitative therapy after accident or illness before returning home. As well as encouraging active involvement by patient’s families, Lyons Health & Living Center maintains a family atmosphere with buffet dining and a variety of activities for residents including arts & crafts, music, and outdoor walks. The facility holds family cookouts or dinners about five times per year and Ladies Civitan sponsors a monthly birthday for residents. Shakamak Good Samaritan Home is in a rural setting in Jasonville. The center is three miles from scenic Shakamak State Park, where residents can enjoy abundant wildlife, fishing and picnicking. The view from the patio is of fruit trees, flowering dogwood trees and rolling fields. Residents spend time in the gazebo area throughout the day, along with the statue of "Our Shepherd" sculpted in Italy. Along with the skilled-nursing center, there are 24 senior living apartments next door with gardens and patios for each apartment dweller. Linton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a comprehensive care center offering both short term rehabilitation and long term care located in central Linton. The center offers transitions to multi-levels of care, physical, occupational and speech therapies, specialized wound care, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, post transplant care, and hospice care with pain management. Senior living
